Downtown lunchtime powerhouse Caviar & Bananas keeps it fresh this summer with four new sandwiches for the gourmand on-the-run.
The sandwiches at the downtown location, right off King Street and on College of Charleston campus, have always been made with high-quality, fresh ingredients, but some of the sandwiches have been a little run-of-the-mill for the lunchtime taste adventurer.
The new additions to the menu, however, really change the grab-and-go game up.
The Usual is a killer of a sandwich, with roasted turkey, brie, arugula, shaved red onion and apricot-rosemary marmalade on toasted multigrain bread.

The ‘Bama Salmon with house hot-smoked salmon, jalapeño slaw and a enjoyably biting Alabama white sauce on sourdough bread.

For the meat-lovers, the Italiana features Genoa salami, black forest ham, mortadella, aged provolone, red onion, arugula, tomato and cherry pepper vinaigrette on a baguette.

Although I typically love some kind of deli meat on my sandwiches, I have to say that my personal favorite was the savory and hearty vegetarian Zucchini Toastie, which features sautéed zucchini, onion and garlic, house-made ricotta and aged parmesan served on multigrain bread.
The Zucchini Toastie, my personal favorite.
Caviar & Bananas is open fro breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on weekends.
