Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you accept submissions (i.e., photos, single posts, etc.)?
A: Yes. While this is a curated site, with bloggers accepted via invitation only, our editors do look for interesting Charleston photos, events, or well-written, single posts to share with Grit readers. To submit a guest blog, click here.

Q: How do you choose Grit bloggers?
A: Two ways: one, we invite well-known Charleston writers and bloggers to post on Charleston Grit. These are people who are notable for their commentary in topics like fashion, design, food, and music; community leaders; humorists; and photographers, as well as seasoned bloggers who post regularly. Second, we accept applications for new bloggers. If you have a singular blogging voice and a command of any of our topics, click here. A Grit editor will review your application.

Q: Are you seeking bloggers in any particular categories?
A: Always. Along with writers who can maintain a consistent schedule, we’re currently looking for bloggers in the categories of: Outdoors & Sports, Politics, Travel, and Music & Nightlife.

Q: What do you do with the e-mail addresses required in order to post a comment?
A: We require this sign-in as a guard against spam, and to ensure anyone commenting is a real person. We don’t sell them; any e-mail addresses entered on Charleston Grit will be archived for in-house promotional e-mails only.

Q: Can I sign up for alerts when new blogs are posted?
A: Yes—you can sign up to receive e-mail alerts by clicking the sign-up bar in the right-hand column of the homepage. Also, make sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
