FRIDAY 1/22

What: CORRESPONDENCE ART: WORDS, OBJECTS, AND IMAGES BY RAY JOHNSON, RICHARD C., AND BOB RAY

Where: The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art

When: 6:30-8:30pm

Deets: The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art begins its year with two new exhibitions; Correspondence Art: Words, Objects, and Images By Ray Johnson, Richard C., and Bob Ray and John McWilliams: Prophecies. The exhibitions will be open from January 22 – March 5, 2016. The opening reception include complimentary refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres, provided by Whole Foods and Icebox.

What: Same As It Ever Was 

Where: The Charleston Pour House

When: 9pm doors; 10pm show

Deets: Talking Heads cover band Same As It Ever Was comes to the Pour House for two complete sets of one of the South's greatest alternative rock bands.Enjoy the free PoHo family funk event from 6:30-9:30pm on the deck.

SATURDAY 1/23 

What: Oysters On The Point

Where: Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina

When: 2-6pm

Deets: What’s the best part of winter in the Lowcountry? Oyster Season. A sister of Party at the Point, this monthly event is hosted until March and features endless locally steamed oyster, live music, and plenty of beer. Come for the oysters and stay for the good times. 

How Much: $5 General Admission, 12 & under Free. Please no pets or coolers allowed.

 

 

What: Shrimp City Slim: A Tribute To Legends of New Orleans R&B

Where: The Barbecue Joint

When: 6-8pm

The Deets: Pay tribute to the legends of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues with the Lowcountry's favorite Bluesman, Shrimp City Slim. Dance the night away to the music of Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint and many more. The show is free to all participants and the Barbeque Joint will be adding some traditional Louisiana creole specials to the menu for the night.

What: Music and Oysters for Wildlife 2016

Where: Sewee Outpost

When: 1:30-6pm

The Deets: This benefit for Friends of Coastal South Carolina features all you can eat local favorite Bulls Bay oysters. There's a silent auction, booze and other drinks for purchase, as well as barbecue and burgers. This party must go on rain or shine, and no pets are allowed. Musical guests include the Lincoln High School Steel Band, The Loose HingesCravin' Melon and Friends, Red Dog Ramblers, and Danielle Howle.

SUNDAY 1/24

 

 

What: Winter Pop Up Shop at Tin Roof

Where: The Tin Roof

When: 2-6pm

Deets: Join the folks over at Tin Roof will be having another Winter Pop Up Shop and Brunch party. Enjoy cocktails as you peruse the wares. Vendors of all sorts including artists, jewelry designers, thrifters, print makers, chefs/foodies, hat designers, illustrators, etc. will be present, and if you make something you'd like to sell, bring it! Be sure to reach out to the Tin Roof first if you plan to operate as a vendor.

What: NFC & AFC Watch Party

Where: The Kickin' Chicken

When: 2pm

Deets: Catch the AFC Championship game as the Patriots take on the Broncos and extend your Sunday Funday stay for the NFC Championship game at 6:40pm. Cheer our Carolina Panthers as they battle the Cardinals to see who will move on to Super Bowl 50!
