It’s common to hear little girls dream of having their own clothing store while they play with dolls and dress up; it’s not as common to see that dream reach fruition. Yet Chelsea Karol, owner of Charleston’s Beckett Boutique has managed to make a dream held by her since aged 5 a successful reality.

With a degree in business and eye for beauty elegance, Ms. Karol has created a clothing boutique that caters to every aspect of today’s busy woman’s life. Simple casual wear of jeans and jumpers can be swiped for dresses layered with pleats and chic patterns. Pink is a common color throughout the boutique, with lovely dresses designed to complement any woman’s wardrobe and silhouette.

No outfit can be considered complete without proper accessories, and Beckett’s outstanding selection of purses and jewelry ensure that no woman will leave without an entirely complete new look. Favored among the accessories are medium-length necklaces designed to fit perfectly within a Downton Abbey setting yet with a modern flair, and earrings with earth tones and stones.

“I want women to enjoy beautiful clothes and feel exquisite”, Ms. Karol told me, and Beckett’s does just that. Ms. Karol, a native of Boston who felt that Charleston best matched her hometown’s vibe and atmosphere, strove to provide personal service to each client she spoke with during the opening, offering suggestions on colors and overall impressions. Her boutique’s offerings pair well with her personal touch. Several high-end brands such as Rebecca Minkoff, Elizabeth and James, Krisa, Meli Melo, Holst + Lee, Nocturne, and Heather Henry, adorn Beckett’s shelves. Yet amid all of the high-end items Ms. Karol has chosen to pay homage to her adopted hometown with jewelry crafted by a College of Charleston graduate and great friend of hers, Cristina V.

A designer loved by Ms. Karol is Viktoria + Woods from Australia. “We were trying on so many designers to determine who to include at the boutique, and Viktoria + Woods was an instant perfect match”, she explained to me. The label can be found prominently throughout Beckett’s.

Situated on King Street, across from the old library site and Marion Square, Beckett’s Boutique is a charming location for new high-end fashion with personal touch. The passion Ms. Karol puts into ensuring each customer leaves satisfied, in conjunction with the top-notch high-end selection, means that like other high quality stores Beckett’s is here to stay.
