During the week, my husband and I are always on the lookout for tasty, affordable dinner options that will please everyone in our family, includiing our two little ones (ages 3 and 18 months). Even though I try to plan out our family's meals each week and cook at home, sometimes -- well, life happens. Our house is a disaster, someone had to work late, and one of the kids has implemented a no-fly zone on vegetables.
Luckily, there's a midweek break for all of us that sounds like it will be not only easy, but tasty. Next Wednesday, July 23 from 5-8pm is Caviar & Bananas' Second Annual Burger + Beer Night, a night showcasing local and craft beers and gourmet, made-to-order burgers. Some of the burgers on tap are the Luau Burger, a seared ham and grilled pineapple concotion; the Chicken & Waffle burger, which doesn't get more Southern; and a vegetarian Falafel Burger with curried yogurt sauce. The cost for each burger is a reasonable $12, including a side, with $6 mini burgers for kids and $5 pints of craft beer on tap. The event promises to satisfy foodies and beer-swillin' meat junkies alike.
As for us, I'm excited that at least for one night next week, we'll be able to enjoy a delicious evening out with our kids. If you're looking for us, just look for the smeared avocado and plastic forks scattered everyone.
What can I say? I'm a messy eater.
