Charleston Waterkeeper LogoOn Friday, May 17, 2013, Charleston Waterkeeper will host the 4th annual Water Ball at the South Carolina Aquarium to raise funds for their important, data-driven initiatives.

The Charleston Waterkeeper is a dedicated non-profit organization who works to protect the public’s right to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. Their jurisdiction includes the Charleston Harbor, the Ashley, Cooper, Wando, and Stono Rivers, and coastal areas.

A dozen of the area’s most sustainably focused chefs will come together to showcase the important connection between the local water quality and local seafood. Take a look at this list:

Mike Lata, The Ordinary

Jason Stanhope, FIG
Graham Dailey, Peninsula Grill
Drew Hedlund, Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar
Jeremiah Bacon, The Indigo Road Restaurant Group
Dave Belanger, Clammer Dave’s Sustainable Gourmet
Nico Romo, Fish Restaurant
Stuart Tracy, Butcher & Bee
Aaron Siegel and Taylor Garrigan, Home Team BBQ
Brian Parkhurst, Ted's Butcherblock
Kevin Johnson, The Grocery
Lauren Mitterer, WildFlour Pastry
Johnny Battles, Sweeteeth Chocolate

There will be a private performance from Ben Bridwell and Creighton Barrett from Band of Horses, supporters of Charleston Waterkeeper, at the aquarium that night! So if you’re a fan of their music and missed their concert at the Fillmore in Charlotte last weekend, find this a perfect opportunity to support a great cause and to experience an intimate performance unlike any other.

The aquatic space will also feature an interactive photo booths from TwitPic and more! I helped shoot the photo booth last year and have to say it was one of the best parts of the night after visiting the open bar all night, just saying...
