Remember Kristy Bishop? Well, she teamed up with Camela Guevara and five other forces in the Charleston arts community to bring you Charleston Supported Art, or CSA, which just officially launched earlier this month! Charleston Supported Art, much like the community supported agricultural model, is a nationwide movement.

It offers a platform for art lovers to not only purchase seasonal shares of original artwork, but to also connect with emerging & established local artists, creating a stronger sense of longevity & community for the rapidly growing arts scene.

"We've gotten feedback from artists that there need to be more platforms to showcase their work. Our goal is to connect artists and patrons and create more opportunities for artists so that they can stay in Charleston." -Camela Guevara

Here’s how the program works. 18 artists are selected from applicants in the tri-county area. Six selected artists create 32 original works of art to be distributed in a seasonal share (spring, fall, & winter). Collectors purchase a share for $450, and retrieve their works at exclusive pick-up events, where they can also interact with the featured artists and fellow art enthusiasts. The exclusive events are hosted at GrowFood Carolina, Mixson Bath and Racquet Club, and 1600 Meeting Street.

Meet all 18 artists at the Meet & Greet Event at Redux Contemporary Art Center Thursday, March 6 from 6:30 to 8:30. Refreshments will be provided by Frothy Beard Brewing Co. & Three Little Birds. The event is free & open to the public!
