TreeHouse! brings their good vibes to Charleston on Aug. 23
Being positive is more than just a state of mind for localish band TreeHouse! It’s a way of life.
The Myrtle Beach band, TreeHouse! formed seven years ago with the dream of spreading their good vibes from coast to coast. Singer and guitarist Jeremy Anderson took a few minutes to talk with me about their latest single, "Prayer for a Day," and their upcoming stop in Charleston.
"Prayer for the Day" is part of a set of songs TreeHouse! is in the process of arranging into an album. The reggae-jam-rock group is slowly releasing singles off their album and this is the first single off of this new batch.
Like their former hit song “Blessings,” “Prayer for the Day” is a simple approach.
“If I have to sing these songs every day, I try to make it a point that it’s my own mantra to help me,” Anderson said. “For me, it’s just a prayer in a song. Like a modern-day hymn.”
It’s a way for him to say thank you for the blessings he receives every day.
While it’s not officially a prequel to “Prayer for the Day,” “Blessings” is similar in its approach.
“'Blessings' was just a really simple approach to a song, in my opinion, and a way for me personally to keep my blessings in mind,” Anderson said.
“Blessings” doesn’t only effect Anderson, but many people have mentioned that the song has helped them through a challenging time.
Its positive message is one of the reasons why TreeHouse! has had so much success with that song. They entered the song into the Marley’s Music Uprising, which is evaluated by Stephen Marley and Ky-Mani Marley. “Blessings” made it to the Top 10. Now, it has more than one million streams on Spotify.
“I definitely try to reflect on that song and why it resonated so well with myself and everyone else. And, try to approach that feeling in more songs,” Anderson said.
TreeHouse! will be performing at the Pour House on August 23. Not sure what to expect? When I asked Anderson what a TreeHouse! stage performance was like, he said, “A dynamic rollercoaster of energy.”
TreeHouse! and Lovely Budz will be in town on Thursday, August 23 at the Charleston Pour House. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
