If you have attended a recent Park Circle festival, you may have noticed a cute little bookmobile. Housed in a silver Airstream-like traveling trailer, Itinerant Literate has been a Charleston-area presence since 2015. Upon entering the space, the potential reader is welcomed by curated, vintage-feeling decor and shelves of books to purchase. It’s a compact bookstore on wheels. The books housed in the mobile are carefully chosen and arranged, covering multiple genres. It is a cozy place that immediately inspires its visitor to crack open a cover and start reading.

Last Friday, Itinerant Literate partnered with Frothy Beard brewery in West Ashley for an event called Brews & Books. Itinerant Literate was parked by the Frothy deck and welcomed guests to browse the shelves with their brews in hand. Olivia, the friendly Corgi belonging to the affable cashier, was in the bookmobile to greet guests as well.

Although the namesake means something along the lines of “traveling reader,” Itinerant Literate has acquired a storefront space. Last Saturday was the Grand Opening of their brick and mortar bookstore located in Park Circle on Chateau Avenue. They took over the house which was the Orange Spot coffee shop’s former location. Check out Itinerant Literate’s website for all of the new in-store events and ongoing programs happening, like the “Get Lit - Book & Dinner Club” and live storytelling.
