Nothing like a Monday to ruin a weekend, which is why there's no better time to think about the next one. Don't let work get you down. Instead, pull out your calendar and plan ahead for the fun to be had in just a few short days. Here are three Grit-worthy events to distract you from your workload this week.

Monsters Inc at Tiedemann Park

What: Family Movie Night brought to you by Charleston Parks Conservancy

When: Friday, October 11th Starting at 4:30 p.m. 

Description: Join the Charleston Parks Conservancy for a FREE family movie night on Friday, Oct. 11 at Tiedemann Park, 38 Elizabeth St. in downtown Charleston. Come at 4:30 p.m. for themed games and activities before the showing of “Monsters, Inc.” at dark — about 5:30 p.m. The 2001 G-rated film “Monsters, Inc.” is a story of a girl who befriends two monsters. Follypalooza at Folly Beach

What: 12th Annual Follypalooza Cancer Benefit at Folly Beach

When: Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Center Street

Description: The goal for this family-friendly event is to raise funds for locals suffering from cancer and other medical ailments. Folly restaurants will showcase their fare alongside more than 60 local food, art, and fashion vendors. Event-goers will enjoy live entertainment by The Kevin West Band, Big Stoner Creek, Headrush, and more plus a kids area presented by Good Clean Fun with spin art, glitter body art, stilt walkers, and hooping. The Folly Beach library will also be on hand for kids with inflatables, games, shell painting and fun. Advance tickets are $6 online or $10 cash at the door. No pets, coolers, outside beverages, bikes, skateboards or similar items allowed. Also, expect a bag search if you plan on taking one in.

Fall Wine Festival 

What: Fall Wine Festival presented by Charleston Wine Festivals

When: Saturday, October 12th 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal

Description: The first Fall Wine Festival is set to take place this Saturday at a scenic venue right on the water. The event features over 50 wines, mimosas, beer, live music, and a DJ for dancing and entertainment. Entry is restricted to those 21 and over. No kids, babies or pets allowed. Guests will receive a souvenir acrylic wine glass and food will be available for purchase. Water is FREE of charge. The cost is $50 in advance or $60 the day of the event.
