Mellow Mushroom Avondale is planting new roots in the Avondale community,  just a half mile from the restaurants front door, at the Magnolia Community Park & Garden.

As of April 26, 2014, 40 plots were provided to the community by The Charleston Parks Conservancy. Mellow Mushroom managers and staff were eager to get their hands dirty and have already started planting cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, sweet basil, cilantro, oregano, lavender, and italian parsley. Mellow Mushroom Avondale believes they can source almost all of their herbs for their kitchen and cocktails if the new garden proves fruitful.

"We are hoping to experiment with growing seasonal vegetables and herbs outside of our normal menu offerings to feature in our monthly pizza and cocktail recipes" says Mellow Mushroom Avondale's General Manager, Claire Smith.

Mellow will also be fueling the compost pile with produce scraps, coffee grinds & whatever else is left over at the end of the night.

The Mellow employees are excited to play in dirt alongside other members of our vibrant community.
