I'm frequently asked for unique decorating and menu for the holidays. Oftentimes, people want to fluff up their homes around Thanksgiving and move seamlessly into December without completely starting from scratch. If you're in this mindset, start with gorgeous greenery, and fill in with flowers that can be changed out as the season progresses. Magnolia leaves, frasier fir, and smilax are lovely (and hearty). If you keep them happy with a little water, they may even last through the new year!
Bottom line: I encourage everyone to think outside the traditional holiday "box" this season, and try a little creativity with decor, table settings, and what you're serving. Here are some more ideas:
Consider using seasonal fabric for a table runner and wrap a festive wide ribbon around napkins for added color.
I, of course, love monogrammed napkins—you can even personalize them with the guest’s monogram as a (really nice!) place card. Also, a little gift at each plate adds to the celebration.
Copper garden stakes make fabulous place cards and bring in an earthy feel for a Thanksgiving dinner. For this table, we used moss green velvet to cover the menu cards—luxurious!
Mini soufflés are so much fun and surprisingly simple. They bake right in their cups. Serve them on a tray lined with your favorite wrapping paper.
We'll have more tips and photos to share in our next post. A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
