Charleston Arts Festival is back for its third year. This celebration of cross-discipline collaboration will challenge the artists and attendees to celebrate all things creative.

Throughout the festival, attendees will immerse themselves in unique experiences that will stretch their minds and celebrate all creators.

Last night, Charleston Arts Festival kicked off with PechaKucha31 and continues with exciting events through November 25.

September 5 - PechaKucha 31

Following the PechaKucha signature style of six minute-forty second presentations, viewers will be delighted to hear from these Charleston creatives, listed below:

• Tom Bradford, one of the innovators behind the Charleston Low Line
• Jen and Mike Kulick, the dynamic husband-wife duo who launched the Tattooed Moose phenomenon
• Mike Quinn, master of saxophone and one of the city’s most prolifically talented  music impresarios
• Trace Bonner, the city’s premiere queen of Holy Cow Yoga
• Jonathan Boncek, photographer extraordinaire
• Taneka Reaves and Johnny Caldwell, the saucy and spirited Cocktail Bandits
• Mark Sloan, director of the Halsey Institution of Contemporary Art and curator of its upcoming landmark “Southbound” exhibition
• Wolfgang Zimmerman, musician-mastermind behind the brand-new Invisible Low End Power and producer at Rialto Row

September 6-October 7 - "The Road Between," Sara Pittman Solo Show

One of Charleston’s most talented young artists, Sara Pittman, has always found art to be an intrinsic part of her being. This solo show at Beresford Studios explores the constant exchange between her repressed state of mind and her conscious self.

September 30 - "The Art of the Vintage Motorcycle:" The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

The first distinguished gentleman’s ride of Charleston will bring together owner-riders of classic and vintage motorcycles as part of an international initiative to raise money for prostate cancer research and treatment of mental health issues affecting men. It’s a 10-mile circuit stopping at some of Charleston’s finest watering holes and ending at The Royal American.

October 5 and 6 - Poe | A Play in the Dark

Lowcountry literary enthusiasts will celebrate this performance of Poe’s “The Raven.” Explore the haunting recesses of Edgar Allan Poe’s mind through original music and movement. Poe | A Play in the Dark will feature a score composed and performed by Andrew Walker, co-founder and director of the Charleston Arts Festival.

October 5 and 6 - Myth of an Atom

This brainchild of New York-based duo electrically fuses elements of hip-hop, R&B, future bass, and electronic soundscapes with fluid, sound reactive imagery. This audiovisual performance explores the nature of light, sound, and the cinematic experience with a live band and amazing visuals.

The creators, Christian Hannon and Fallen Atom, are Charleston natives.

October 20 - Charleston Arts Festival | CONCOCTION 

A homage to JAILBREAK, the Charleston Arts Festival will return to The Royal American with live music, dance and more!

October 26-November 25 - "Love Yourself" - Paul Cristina Solo Show 

Back at Beresford Studios, Paul Cristina, one of our region’s most talented and visionary contemporary artists, will have his work on display.

November 3 - Film at CAF: Premieres of Beyond Transport and Alexx Finding Home

Don’t miss these two new documentary films by California-based filmmaker Ched Lohr. Beyond Transport is a moving exploration of the ways in which our devices distance us from our peers. Alexx Finding Home tells the story of a 29-year-old woman’s mission to make a home for her small family after twelve years of homelessness.

November 12 - PechaKucha 32: Tenth Anniversary

What a milestone! This gathering will mark ten years of PechaKucha in Charleston. More than 250 creatives have shared what has inspired them and PechaKucha 32 will bring back the original nine from PechaKucha 1.

November 12-30 – “Visually Speaking: PechaKucha Portraits by Jonathan Boncek”

Local superstar photographer, Jonathan Boncek, will curate his selection of twenty-eight portraits of PechaKucha presenters taken during is 2011-2018 tenure as the staff photographer for Charleston City Paper.
