Charleston, S.C. (April 10, 2014) – Mixson Market and GrowFood Carolina will partner to bring a Saturday morning market to Mixson’s retail district. Debuting on Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m., shoppers will have their selection of fresh, seasonal produce and products from more than 50 local sustainable growers. This family friendly market will feature live music, making it a vibrant event for the Park Circle community.
Rebecca Leisen, a recent graduate from the College of Charleston, will spearhead the project for GrowFood Carolina, a local non-profit that bridges the gap between local farmers and consumers. Leisen also works with Crop-Up, assisting with research and growing methods, crop reports and other on-site projects. Sara Clow, general manager of GrowFood Carolina, explains, “We’re thrilled to expand on GrowFood Carolina’s relationship with Mixson and provide Park Circle residents direct access to a wider variety of produce coming from our local farms.”
Mixson Market owner-operator Bryan Lewis adds, “The market will feature regular guest farmers, but unlike most farmers markets, this market creates access to a much wider selection of local produce, as shoppers are not limited to produce from attending farms and farmers.”
Mixson Farmers Market is located at 4338 McCarthy Street, North Charleston, S.C. The Market will be open to the public Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from May 3, through November 1, 2014. Ample free parking available. Follow Mixson Farmers Market on Facebook for updates and a list of featured farmers and vendors.
