Take a step back from today, from the week, from larger-than-life life. That's what I'm doing on this Friday, after a couple of doozies: The bat, a week of sleepless nights, a Mt. Everest pile of work, and not enough time to just sit down on my sofa, open the window, and write my stories.
Yesterday, in the midst of my whirlwind, I bought this photo of Joan Crawford and Douglas Fairbanks (Santa Monica, 1929) from One Kings Lane. I bought it because I wanted it. That crazy-finicky, overly deliberative brain of mine kept coming back to it, which is how I know I need something. And I was right. Because today, it seems like an apt way to remind myself, someone often accused of taking things far too seriously, to do what I want. And take it easy... all at the same time.
