Holistic Education and Art Recreation Therapy (HEART) is a healthy and creative day program for adults with special needs. In July, they welcomed guests to a fashion show sponsored by Palmetto Goodwill at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church. Twelve adults who attended the HEART summer program participated in the fashion show. Local fashionistas, salons, and photographers donated their time and resources to style and produce the fashion show which consisted of a day-wear portion followed by an evening-wear show.
All clothing was generously donated by Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina, Inc. Angharad Chester-Jones, PR Director for Charleston Fashion Week, spearheaded the project and was the evening's MC. Stylists included Katie Shayda owner of LUXE, LLC, Heidi Burch of OwenByStudios, Erin Timberlake, Michelle Wood (CFW Model coach), and Charlotte Roberts-Baroody, the stylist for Grandstrand Magazine.
Lava Salon generously donated hair and makeup for both a photo-shoot prior to the event and for the fashion show. The participants were professionally photographed by local fashion and wedding photographer Reese Moore.
HEART will continue its talent show programming with the next show, "heART Show Going Ghostbusters," on October 23rd. Check out the Facebook event page for more details!
