Featured Guest Star will be internationally renowned cellist Natalia Khoma, Professor of Cello at the College of Charleston.

On April 28 at 3 P.M. at Grace Church Cathedral, the full Taylor Festival Choir performs a concert featuring Leonard Bernstein’s iconic Chichester Psalms, as well as repertoire from their upcoming Pathways to Healing” album. Featured Guest Star will be internationally renowned cellist Natalia Khoma, Professor of Cello at the College of Charleston.

Rob Taylor states “I have been planning to revisit Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms for years now. With its pulsating, ebullient opening section (which reminds one of West Side Story) as well as its lyrical and dramatic second and third sections – this is “modern masterpiece”  of the highest order. We are in the process of auditioning a boy soprano to sing the middle solo, which Bernstein expressly wrote for an unchanged male voice. I must also add how rewarding it always is to work with the great Natalia Khoma. Charleston is so fortunate to have one of the truly great cellists of the world as one of our own. The repertoire we are performing with her – Reena Esmail’s When the Violin and Gabriel Jackson’s To the Field of Stars — are jaw-dropping works in their own right, and feature both Natalia’s and the TFC’s artistry perfectly.”

Choir member Kiri Taylor expresses that “Chichester Psalms has been one of my favorite choral pieces since childhood. I’ve been lucky enough to perform it in high school and with the CSO Chorus, but there’s something special about the Taylor Festival Choir — and I’m so honored I am able to perform it with this world-class choir whose members I am lucky enough to call my friends.”
