Brothers Shep and Ian Murray, chief executive officers and co-founders of Vineyard Vines, announced today the company will open a new retail location at 275 King St in Charleston. The 5,500 square-foot ground floor retail store is set to open in late Fall 2014, and marks the brand’s first store in South Carolina.
“We have an incredibly loyal following in Charleston and are thrilled to be opening a store in such an iconic and beautiful East Coast city” said Shep Murray, CEO and co-founder. “We have built our business and brand awareness in Charleston through extremely successful relationships with longstanding wholesale accounts and locally held events, such as Charleston Race Week and the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival. Our new retail location on King Street will allow us to better support those partnerships and offer customers the opportunity to shop a broader selection of products; we couldn’t be more excited to get more involved in the Charleston community.”
In addition to recently opened stores in Tiburon, CA and Raleigh, NC, vineyard vines plans to open at least 10 other stores in 2014 and early 2015. New stores include a pop-up shop in East Hampton, NY and a new permanent location on Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue. 2014 will mark Vineyard Vines’ biggest year of retail expansion to date.
Vineyard Vines, a company best known for its whimsical neckties and smiling pink whale logo, was founded in 1998 on Martha’s Vineyard when brothers Shep and Ian Murray cut their ties with corporate America to start making ties that represented the Good Life. In addition to signature neckwear, vineyard vines offers a variety of clothing and accessories for men, women and children. Products are sold in over 600 specialty and department stores worldwide.
