It's awfully smoky East of the Cooper today, worse than a 2am haze floating through Club Habana on a Saturday night. Where's the fire?
According to Station 1 Fire Department in Mt. Pleasant, northeast of town. That's where they're doing controlled burns and the smoke's blowing across the Wando. That's good news. Because unlike all those scotch- and cigar-soaked nights out at Habana, at least we know this is a calculated disaster.
(Cruel of me to mention Habana, isn't it, what with its pending demise? Now that's the kind of bar you can sink into. Note to self (Grit): odes to the loungey Meeting Street martini and cigar bar needed, blog funeral in the works.)
