Coco Chanel is famous for saying that a woman who does not wear fragrance has no future. Dramatic, sure, but your scent holds more power than you think. It can bring back memories, create a signature, imprint a feeling. Frangrance invites the world in to get to know you a little bit better. It enters a room before you do and remains long after you have departed.
I remember when I first started in the business and I read that famous quote from Marilyn Monroe: "The only thing that I wear to bed is Chanel Number 5." I was sold. How sexy! Mysterious, true, and outright mind-blowing how much scent impacts who we are and the way those around us perceive us.
Since then, I have found that the proper way to wear a scent is just as important, if not more so, than the fragrance itself. You have to layer it to make it last. Hear me? Layer, Layer , Layer. Start of with a corresponding body wash. This is the first tip to getting your fragrance to remain throughout the day. It preps the skin and gives you a little lift in the shower. I don't recommend a deodorant wash because these are meant to kill fragrance on the body. To use one of these and then to try and wear a fragrance is a waste of time and a waste of your product.
Dry skin is no friend to fragrance, so the next step would be applying a lotion or cream, preferably one that has the same scent as your chosen fragrance. Slather it on. This will make you unstoppable, honey!
The final step of fragrance is to apply. Where, you might ask? Well, that is what I am here for, my darlings, so listen up:
1. Back of the knees.
2. Between the breasts.
3. On the wrists.
4. Behind the ears.
5. For long-lasting effect and a little extra sexy, spritz a small amount in your hair.
There you have it, the proper way to adorn yourself with perfume and to ensure that your scent will outlast all of the oohs and ahhs of how fabulous you are.
