Last night was Parliament Charleston’s 20th Pecha KuchaFor it, Parliament members voted on past presenters to present again. They narrowed it down to 8 presenters to discuss their process and how important it is for our community to stay a creative.

If you're wondering what Pecha Kucha is, per Parliament's website: “Pecha Kucha, Japanese for the sound of conversation, is a mix of show-and-tell, open-mike night and happy hour that has become a forum for ideas on design, architecture and other forms of creativity.”

Overall, it’s a very inspiring night, as is every Pecha Kucha.

Last night it was held at the Charleston Music Hall and was packed! We had a screen showing showing tweets with hashtag #PKCHS, a surprise balloon drop that filled the entire auditorium, cloud decorations everywhere, a wolf on stage, beards, party tips, creative advice, and just tons of “DOPENESS,” as Ayoka Lucas would say.

Along with Scott Watson of the Office of Cultural Affairs (pictured below), Mayor Joe Riley officially appointed November 20th as Charleston Creative Parliament Day and it was reported the creative industry has impacted 3.2 billion dollars in our regional economy. That’s something for us all to be proud of!

After the presentations, Elise Testone topped off the night with a performance singing tracks off her new album, I Will Not Break, along with some soulful covers. Check out photos of that, plus of each speaker, below. For more pics from the event, scan the gallery above.
