Fur was not the only thing flying this year at Pet Helpers on Folly Road—so were an array of bright, beautiful beach balls at this year's annual Fur Beach Ball, held October 19. The themed fundraiser was held at the Marriot Hotel on Lockwood and is one my favorite events of the season.
The Fur Ball is an annual benefit, a fabulous evening that raises cash for Pet Helpers. This year, Charleston's most fashionable came out in support of their furry friends, and like years past, a good time was had by all. By the end of the night, generosity and big hearts came together and raised over $150,000 to support Pet Helpers!
The dress code on the invitation read black tie required… beach chic optional. I scratched my head over that one, but saw in the end that most pulled it off in their own style. I could not be more proud of the gorgeous ladies of the Holy City, who had come out for a wonderful cause. This was certainly a night where Charleston's finest opened up their wallets and clutches to benefit a great charity, gracefully flew over one fashion obstacle of a dress code, and the best part of the night was that no one went home with their tail between their legs. How do you like that?
Here's a peek at the partygoers:
Yours truly went black tie/neutral jacket. Lou Hammond went full-on feline.
This pair went classy and coastal—not too formal, not exactly barefoot either.
The lovely Shannon James (chair of the event) was all turquoise and pink—love the shades.
Meghan Walker, Joe Quinn (far right) and another handsome gent went big on color.
