The Blog of the Week is.... Lottery Loser Takes All by Stephanie Hunt. This didn't just bring us down to earth out of our $590 million cloud—it broke the fall.

Because we all played. We all lost. In fact, here at Grit, the boss called the morning after the drawing. "The fact that you're picking up the phone tells me you guys didn't win," he said. 

No. No, we didn't, we explained.

"But you wouldn't have answered had you won, would you?"

We laughed. "That would be cruel... we'd have at least given you until noon. Three hours notice seems fair."

... I won the lottery 50 years ago, when I was born to college-educated parents, in the United States of America, in New York City, no less—one of the world's primo cities... I may not have an extra $590 million floating around, but I have an education, three healthy children... Last night I got to paddleboarding down Shem Creek alongside some sneaky peek-a-boo loons and a silver dolphin. This is my mega-wealth."
