Who has the most delicious fried chicken in Charleston? You’ll have to wait until The Southern Fried Chicken Challenge on September 8 to find out.

But, you can purchase your early (yard)bird tickets now.

Here’s what you need to know:

Purchase tickets by June 1 to get the best deal.

VIP tickets are $55.

Buy 3 general admission tickets for $10 and get the fourth ticket free (use promo code FAMILY).

After June 1, ticket prices jump up to $65 for VIP tickets. General admission tickets remain $10, but you don’t get that finger-lickin’ good deal.

What’s new this year?

Culinary Students from Charleston School District will also compete.

Anything else on the menu?

In addition to fried chicken, there will be music from The Dubplates and Quentin Ravenel.

A portion of the proceeds from the Southern Fried Chicken Festival will be donated to the Charleston Animal Society, MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, Charleston County School District Career & Technology Education programs, and YEScarolina (Youth Entrepreneurship South Carolina).

The fried chicken madness takes place on Saturday, Sept. 8 from noon to 6 p.m. at North Charleston’s Riverfront Park.
