Like all good weekends, Monday comes along and crashes it with that "friend" who shows up everywhere uninvited. You expect it but the annoyance factor is high just the same. Luckily, for you, we have a solution. You deserve to stay in weekend mode and we can help keep your headspace in it. Stop staring at that pile of work now and start making plans. To make this easy, we've assembled our Grit Picks for you to peruse for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You're welcome.

Rhyan Sinclair at Dockery's

What: Kentucky Americana artist Rhyan Sinclair performs at Dockery's

When: Friday, October 18th 8-10 p.m.

Description: No stranger to Charleston, Sinclair played at the top of the bridge for the Cooper River Bridge Run with her band, All the Little Pieces, in 2016, and returned the following year to perform her concept album The Legend of Lavinia Fisher in the Old City Jail in Lavinia's cell. With her debut solo release in 2018, Barnstormer (one of Saving Country Music’s Essential Albums of the Year), she is an established Americana artist with radio play and positive press in the U.S. and abroad. Recorded in Nashville and Lexington, Kentucky, Barnstormer features guest players Lillie Mae, Fats Kaplin and Eliza Doyle. In the past few years, she has shared the stage with Lillie Mae, Maggie Rose, The Dead South, Mason Jennings and more. For her return to Charleston, perfectly timed in the middle of Halloween season, she will be joined by her band, the South 65, and Kentucky alt-country band Dave Ernst + The Early Favorites who are making their Charleston debut. Kentucky native Ernst, supports his debut LP, Hickory Switch, produced by Peter Searcy and mixed by Ken Cooper (Uncle Tupelo). Find both artists on all the major digital outlets and then join them at Dockery’s for some music, storytelling and a good ol’ time. The show is FREE and suitable for all ages. We hope you'll carve out time to make it since Dockery's is part of our partner Charleston Magazine's SoundCheck Charleston.
