"Every child is beautiful and unique, and every child deserves a moment in the sun." - Israel and Danielle Paskowitz, Co-Founders, Surfers Healing
For the 11th year in a row, Surfers Healing, the organization dedicated to providing tandem surfing experiences for children living with autism, brings its unique one-day surf camp to Folly Beach. The 2018 Surfers Healing Folly Beach Camp kicks off at the Folly Beach Pier at 8 a.m with the first set of surfers out at 9 a.m. The event concludes at 3 p.m. You don't want to miss this incredible day of love in action as the group strives to make waves, literally, not only in the lives of those diagnosed with the disease, but in the lives of their loved ones, too. Expect the vibe of positive energy and goodwill to have a ripple effect on everyone in attendance.
Surfers Healing hosts free surfing camps for autistic children around the U.S, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Each year, thousands benefit from the extraordinary approach to calming sensory overload. It is the original camp of its kind to unlock the transformative power of the ocean as a therapeutic experience for autism.
Founded in 1996 from a couple's personal journey with their son's autism diagnosis, Surfers Healing set out to level the playing field of those living with the disorder by using water as nature's ultimate equilibrium.
"It's amazing to see what our kids can do, and how they light up as they learn."
