Wild Common launches collaboration with Charleston Artist Collective
By Orlando Pagán
We hope this partnership adds a unique dimension to the dining experience at Wild Common, and we hope it is an aspect of the experience our guests will remember long after their meal.
Beginning this fall, my team and I atWild Commonhave partnered with Charleston-basedArtist Collective,an online gallery representing a wide range of local and regional artists in various styles, to feature a rotating, curated exhibition within the restaurant. On Sept. 1, we kicked off the partnership with an exhibition of works byBeth Williams,an award-winning artist and signature member of thePastel Society of America.
The artwork is showcased on our 20'x12’ digital projector, which turns an entire wall of the dining room at Wild Common into a larger-than-life, immersive art installation to complement the culinary experience. Moving forward, we will spotlight a different Artist Collective creator each quarter and the artist’s work will be featured on our menu for the duration of their exhibition, which Wild Common guests can take home as a memento of their evening.
Williams has been the perfect first artist to be featured at Wild Common because her current work focuses primarily on the diverse sea island landscapes that surround her home and studio on Edisto Island, SC, much like the surrounding landscape of Charleston. The tranquil, earthy tones of Williams’ marsh landscapes compliment the rich seasonal items on our fall menu such as stuffed quail with foie gras, squash curry and apple pie.

During the upcoming quarter following Williams’ exhibition, we will feature an installation of works by Charleston nativeShannon Wood.Like Williams, Wood takes inspiration from the marshes and waterways of the Lowcountry, often incorporating natural elements such as reeds or grasses hand-sewn into the canvas.

We are excited to see this collaboration come to fruition, since there is so much overlap between the artistry of well-executed cuisine and artistry on a canvas like the works represented by the Charleston Artist Collective. We hope this partnership adds a unique dimension to the dining experience at Wild Common, and we hope it is an aspect of the experience our guests will remember long after their meal.
