Recognizing the brilliance of her creation she sought and received a Utility Patent becoming only the third clothing brand in the U.S. to achieve it — and the only female. The other two? Nike and Teva.

In case you haven't heard of her, allow me to introduce the local, self-taught fashion designer taking the clothing world by storm. Cristy Pratt, CEO and founder of MORPH Clothing, is doing just that with the unique Capsule Dress capable of being styled with more than 60 different looks. Add to that the ability to flatter multiple body types with its size-inclusive, wrinkle-free, travel- and eco-friendly, sustainably sourced material and it's no wonder she's experiencing a high level of success.

Categorized as Athflow, a term that reflects the combination of athleisure wear and elegant clothing, her pieces fall into an emerging design trend that is both comfortable to wear yet easy to dress up or down. Recognizing the brilliance of her creation she sought and received a Utility Patent becoming only the third clothing brand in the U.S. to achieve it — and the only female. The other two? Nike and Teva.

This exclusivity is precisely what positions Pratt as a hot commodity for future partnerships and potential licensing agreements.

What differentiates a Utility Patent from a Design Patent? A lot, apparently, in that the former creates a product that cannot be duplicated. This exclusivity is precisely what positions Pratt as a hot commodity for future partnerships and potential licensing agreements. So, where did it all begin? With an inherited sewing machine and the personal determination to see herself through challenging times.

It was 2017 when Pratt got her hands on her grandmother's sewing machine and quickly became obsessed despite not knowing how to sew. Throw in a failed marriage, a soul-sucking corporate job, and a struggle with dyslexia that made the learning curve for sewing that much steeper, and therein lies the backdrop surrounding the birth of the one-of-a-kind Capsule Dress.

Pratt's goal is to fight the waste of fast fashion and promote sustainability through flattering clothing choices made in the U.S. that uplift all body types.

Beginning with thrift store finds and sheer determination, she has morphed into a fierce fashion force with exposure from the likes of MTV, Meryl Streep, H.E.R., BET and more. The path has not been easy from obstacle-ridden, humble beginnings, a near overnight sensation forcing rapid worldwide growth, a pandemic-fueled fabric shortage to a devastating house fire that not only dealt a personal blow but destroyed Pratt's entire hand-sewn inventory. Still, nothing has stopped this ambitious entrepreneur from forging ahead and succeeding at every turn.

Given her track record and my personal experience wearing and loving the brand, there is no doubt it is another masterpiece that will further her trajectory to the top of the industry.
