In the face of tragic events, the Charleston music community reaches out to support those affected. Members of The High Divers Band were injured in a car accident in Mesa, Arizona. The group was three weeks into their tour in June when their van was totaled and each sustained significant injuries.

The Royal American planned a show for Friday, July 14, 2017 for $10 with all profits going directly to support the extensive medical bills of the artists. The Artisanals, The Mobros, Hunter Park and Matilda Dae decided to bring a crowd to the venue to help out fellow Charlestonians.

Their accident resulted in the cancelling of the rest of the tour because of the injuries sustained. The artists will heal mentally and physically with support from their hometown community.

The group's debut album was in 2015 in Charleston. Frontman Luke Mitchell says, “We all moved to Charleston (SC) on the same day, and there was nothing else in our minds but forming a kick ass touring rock band.” According to their website, The High Divers are steadily becoming exactly what they’d envisioned since day one.

But, of course, that wouldn't be the case without the backing of the Charleston community. With over $17,000 worth of medical expenses, The High Divers seem to be ready to get the obstacles out of the way to keep jamming.

According to Post and Courier, "there are still hurdles to climb, including physically healing, waiting for insurance money to replace the van, repairing damaged equipment and actually picking up their instruments again."

So, if you'd like to pitch in and support a local music group, head to the Royal American on 7/14/17 and rock out to some original groups!
