It’s no secret that life in Charleston has become more fast-paced and stressful. Tucked away in the heart of West Ashley, Cole Wadsten’s new venture, The Break Room, offers stress relief from daily woes in a different fashion: 30- or 60-minute sessions of total annihilation with objects in every room strategically placed to meet their demise.

“Once your session finishes, you want to do it again,” Wadsten said post-demonstration, and it’s true. The joy of releasing decades of constraint and rules has a surprisingly calming effect on the mind — a therapeutic outlet Wadsten offers to audiences of all ages.

“This is an amazing experience that can uniquely serve the wants of groups, individuals, and even couples”, Wadsten continued, noting that one of the site’s most popular offerings is the “Couple’s Therapy” half-hour session. Most beneficial to clients, he explains, is the privacy and no-judgment environment in place during every session. Simply put customers can smash away items to their hearts’ content and leave without picking anything up. Supplies are provided, and videos and photography are not only permitted, they’re encouraged.

“We’re the first one of these venues in the state and look forward to being the industry’s trendsetter”, Wadsten concluded. “Most important is that customers leave thinking, ‘wow, what a great time!’”

The Break Room is located at 1947 Belgrade Avenue in West Ashley. Hours, rules, and registration can all be found on its website, tbrcharleston.com
