A Quick Trip to Brazil...

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry’s annual silent auction fundraiser. This year the Bus Shed was transformed into a Brazilian block party complete with band and dancers.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward supporting scholarships, museum admissions, educational day-camps, and programming to under-served and special-needs children and their families.

This was my first silent auction and what fascinated me the most was the fact that I couldn’t tell who was bidding. I saw a topaz ring, a getaway for four, and other items of interest get auctioned off and I swear I couldn’t point out who was bidding on what until the very end.

After the bidding was done and the prizes divvied up, it was time to enjoy the sounds of Malandro Soul. The Brazilian’s music and dancing were as intoxicating as the wine being served (but minus the hangover). I actually had a chance to join in the action between shots—my arm was twisted and I was forced to dance with the beauties. What splendid torture. The event was a colorful success.
