The Blog of the Week is... One Last Hurrah With Tyler James Mechem by Devin Grant. The former lead singer of Crowfield is leaving town with his family to move back to his home state of Indiana... but not before playing one more show (see below for details). And we loved how Devin payed homage to Charleston-born groups that don't quite make it to real-deal fame, but not for a lack of talent. And Devin knows musical talent when he hears it.

Speaking of, before Mechem could get out of town, Devin caught up with him to talk about the Charleston music scene, tonight's farewell show, and the driving force behind this departure: fatherhood.

"Mechem's son is now five months old, and he, like most new parents, marvels at how quickly his child is already changing and growing. He also admits that, while music is certainly very important to him, his priorities have changed with becoming a father. That's a big part of what makes this Friday's show at the Pour House so special; it will likely be the last chance Lowcountry fans have to catch Mechem live for the foreseeable future."

Will you be going to the Pour House tonight for Mechem's last show? Here's the info again...

« WHAT: Tyler James Mechem's farewell for now show

« WHERE: The Pour House

If so, comment on this or Devin's original blog tomorrow and let us know how it was.

Can't make it? We borrowed this Mechem video from an entry in blogger Tim Brennan's video contest. It's a Grit favorite, and nothing like we've ever seen. Treat yourself to a trip to the woods and watch it:
