Twin brothers Alex and Mike Faherty are on tour right now. They’re not a band nor are they politicians. They are a fashion designer and financial team with the lifelong dream of building a brand together.

The twins are originally from New Jersey and have a love for the beach. Mike was a designer for Ralph Lauren for eight years while Alex was a financial and business strategist for a private equity. Mike says that if he was going to make it as a fashion designer, he knew he would have to work at Ralph Lauren.

They both grew up on the beach, and Mike’s designs reflect the beach life thoughout the entirety of the brand. Now since these dudes are beach kids, their love for Mother Earth influenced the brand to be made out of an eco-friendly recycled polyester. This means good for the planet and that their clothes dry quick after a dip in the water!

« How on Earth would you not go into business together with a team like this? Especially when you’re twins! »

When writing his graduating thesis in college back in 2005, Mike realized his dream to create the Faherty Brand. Only two months after graduating, he was already working at Ralph Lauren and spent eight years there before quitting a year ago to focus 100 percent on Faherty with Alex.

« When he was 3 years old, Mike used to dress his brother (Alex) and tell his dad to change his tie. »

They finally launched the Faherty Brand this past April in NYC and stopped by The Alley here in Charleston Friday for a pop-up shop!

The pop-up shop (which they built) had their entire brand on display. Their selection of women’s wear is fit for the cool mom and the 21-year-old alike. Their designs can be worn for a night out, and the fit has support, making them very comfortable, as well. Their menswear line is tailored and features clothes with pockets, including a zipper on pants’ back pockets. Perfect for all-day wear from beach to the party, their goal is to create an “endless summer” line that can be worn year-round. They are just now delving into the accessories world, as well.

The twins prompted the tour because they claim the beach life is everywhere. No one in NYC is doing a beach line that’s tailored, so that was an even better excuse for them to continue this bluegrass tour across America.

They chose Charleston as a pit-stop on the tour because of their love for Folly. So they were really excited to set-up shop at The Alley and partied it out all night with the locals.

« "The beach scene here is amazing and I can’t wait to see the brand reach out onto the East & West coast. We really just wanted to see the beaches!" —Mike »
