This past weekend seemed to be all about giving love to the locals.

First, we had the kickoff to the Charleston Farmers Market (CFM).

There was a huge turnout and the weather was perfect!

CFM was founded by the beloved previous Mayor Joe Riley and the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service in 1989.

The farmers market is located in Marion Square 8am-2pm every Saturday April 9th – November 26th in 2016.

Vendors provide local produce, plants, herbs, cut flowers, live music, arts and crafts from local artisans, as well as breakfast and lunch.

There are special occasions and holidays where the hours and days of operation are different. The schedule can be found here. The event is also free and applications to become a vendor can be found here.

I personally do all of my produce shopping there weekly and the farmers market serves as my breakfast every single Saturday. This weeks breakfast was a red curry tofu taco from the delicious Street Hero and a grapefruit aqua fresca from the Juice Joint. I wouldn't trade it for any other breakfast or lunch spot in town!

It makes sense that CFM has won numerous awards like Top 10 Best Farmers Markets in the Nation, Best Outdoor Event, and Best Attraction.

Second, Celadon home store kicked off their Sunday Flea event series.

Celadon places high priority on support to the community as a whole and Sunday Flea provides opportunity and highlights local artisans and entrepreneurs.

The Sunday Flea event series takes place each Sunday, through July 31st Sunday Flea 10am-2pm at their warehouse located in North Charleston (2221 Noisette Blvd).

There are over 50 local artists and makers, live music, food trucks, beer, etc. Celadon even has the warehouse opened at a discounted rate on all items within it!

At the kickoff event this past Sunday we even had free hummus and chips and free beer (which we all know is virtually unheard of)! The best part was that this was an event with activities for all ages.

The Sunday Flea will continue to accept submissions for vendors and artisans throughout the event series. Submissions only require a quick email to Celadon’s Event Coordinator, Grace Toland, at gtoland@celadonathome.com
