Barbell For Boobs This Friday at Angel Oak Crossfit!

Want to lift weights while giving back to a good cause? Then check out Barbell for Boobs this Friday, October 20th, at the newly opened Angel Oak Crossfit on Johns Island. This is a great opportunity for athletes and non-athletes alike to give back to a great charity, while enjoying food, drinks, and awesome raffle prizes at the same time.

The event kicks off at 4:30 pm on Friday. Have to work? Don’t worry, there will heats every 30 minutes for you to join in on. Participants have the option to do four different workouts including the classic Crossfit Girl WOD “Grace” (30 Clean and Jerks for time), “Double Grace” (60 Clean and Jerks for Time), “Heavy Grace” (30 Cleans and Jerks for time at 155 lbs for Males and 105 lbs for Females), or you can grab a partner and do “Helen Meets Grace” (3 Rounds for Time of a 400m run, 21 kettlebell swings, 12 pull ups, directly into “Grace”). All workouts are completely scalable, meaning that even if you have never done Crossfit or lifted weights previously, there are options available so you, too, can participate. There will even be a “Kids Grace” so your kiddo can participate too.

Coach Megan Flora and James Engesser will be there to assist with any movements or questions prior to the workout. After the workout you can cool down with adult and non-adult beverages, while playing Cornhole and Spikeball. Donations will be accepted throughout the event.

Barbell for Boobs’ mission is to “mobilize and empower people to take action in breast cancer” with 99% of all funds being raised through Barbell for Boobs events around the country. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, with 7% being diagnosed under the age of 40.
