After the collective challenges we faced in the past year, the show’s central message of coming together to create a better, brighter future is simple, yet nonetheless needed.

As principal ofLanding Contemporary Art,I am pleased to present the exhibition “Better Together” featuring the work of abstract paintersJoan AglaiaandShana GruganatSerendipity Labsin Mount Pleasant. The show pairs these artists whose works naturally converse through light, pattern, color and form.

After the collective challenges we faced in the past year, the show’s central message of coming together to create a better, brighter future is simple, yet nonetheless needed. While these artists work in different mediums and have varied inspirations, by putting them into close proximity, a dialogue ensues that furthers the experience of the viewer. As the show is taking place at Serendipity Labs, Mount Pleasant’s newest co-working space, the sense of community and the importance of shared exchanges and ideas are furthered.

Aglaia’s works are fluid and introspective while Grugan’s are rooted in more structural organic forms. However, the works from these artists have a similar color palette and rhythmic use of form that makes the conversation between them particularly compelling. The art in this show offers a unique view of what abstraction can be and how the experience of art can be heightened through curation. In a sense, “Better Together” is a reminder of the powerful connective properties of art.
