This year Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday which means homemade brunch with fresh cinnamon rolls, blood orange mimosas and heart-shaped bacon (yes, you heard that correctly), should certainly be in order. Whether you are cooking for your other half or "galentines" (best girlfriends), I'm sharing food, drink, festive details and everything in between for everyone celebrating the official day of love.

When it comes the Valentine's Day, you can't go wrong with a little bubbly as long as you integrate a little red or pink for a festive touch. Although cherries, strawberries and watermelon aren't currently in season, try pomegranate or blood orange which should be readily available this time of year and happen to boast the coveted color of the holiday.

Why settle for ordinary eggs and toast when you can make them heart-shaped? Using a 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, remove the center of a piece of toast. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat and cook your bread on both sides until slightly toasted. Carefully break an egg into the center and cook until egg is set, about 2-3 minutes. As for the bacon: shape half pieces into a heart, place on a sheet pan and bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 °F. Our favorite classic breakfast with a twist.

You can't forget the cinnamon rolls when it comes to Valentine's Day brunch. Traditionally, these soft, sweet rolls are made with yeast-leavened dough that has been proofed to make them nice and fluffy, served with icing or a cream cheese frosting. Quick-baked cinnamon rolls are just as tasty and cut the wait time in half. Don't forget the red, pink and white heart sprinkles!

For the last minute shoppers, here are some holiday items to invest in for the big day. Some of my personal favorites: the heart-shaped waffle maker and mini bottles of Chandon Sparkling Rosé. But of course you can't go wrong with a classic heart-shaped cookie cutter to always have on hand when February 14 comes along. Happy Valentine's Day!
