David Sawyer

I’ve had two passions in my life that I have been fortunate enough to make careers, the first was photography and the second wine. As a professional photographer I got to live and work in Milan and New York City and collaborate with some of the best creatives in the world, working for Armani, Tiffany, Nike, among many others and on some insanely cool food and wine projects for magazines such Saveur, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart and Appellation.

As a wine professional I was the Wine Director for two James Beard Award winning chefs, Sean Brock of Husk Restaurant in Charleston S.C. and Missy Robbins of Lilia Ristorante in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I worked in wine retail for Leon & Son Wine in Brooklyn and have worked as a harvest intern at two wineries, on two continents. In 2018 at Anomaly Vineyards in St. Helena, Napa Valley and in 2021 at Fitapreta Vinhos in the Alentejo, Portugal.

Throughout my second career I continued with my first and photographed everything that I experienced in the restaurant, retail and wine making world’s and I am now combining these two passions as one. This website gives a visual reference of all these experiences and more, plus a preview of some of the images that will appear in the book that I am writing:

“The Harvest” A Personal Journey into Making a Bottle of Wine
