Do you have plans to stop by the Charleston Farmer’s Market this weekend? My favorite reason to stop by is to chomp down on some delicious crepes from Charleston Crepe Co. and maybe pick up a candle as a gift from Rewind Candles.

This week, however, I will be going to see the Lowcountry Flower Growers and their Floral Design Challenge.

Three local floral designers will compete in three different design challenges using flowers grown by Lowcountry flower farmers. This celebration is a part of American Flowers Week, which runs from June 28 to July 4.

Lowcounty Flower Growers is a coalition of coastal South Carolina flower farmers committed to growing local, sustainable flowers for florists, events and communities. Their mission is to educate communities, serve as a resource and support fellow farmers.

The Bloom Battle will be from 10 a.m. to noon on June 30 at the Charleston Farmer’s Market. Designers will be competing using locally-grown flowers provided by Lowcountry Flower Grower member farms.
