World War II is raging in Europe. In New York, Arturo and Flora are in love, but she is promised in marriage to the son of a Mafia boss. There is a way around this, but to be able to marry Flora, Arturo needs to get permission from her father, who lives in Sicily. Penniless, Arturo enlists in the U.S. Army, which is preparing for a landing on the island.

We welcome you to join us for the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival at the Sottile Theatre, 44 George Street, Charleston, SC. The four-day festival celebrates contemporary Italian cinema and culture with film screenings, conversations with directors, special events and afterparties around Charleston.

Hosted by the College of Charleston and the Italian Studies Language Department. Members of the NCIFF can attend the Opening Party without additional ticket.
